More than 30,000 Customers Dramatically Simplify Network
Diagnostics and Troubleshooting with SolarWinds Engineer's
Toolset New Version 9.0 Provides First True Real-time
NetFlow Analysis Tool Interop,
LAS VEGAS, NV - May 22, 2007 - SolarWinds, a leader
in network management software, today announced the
availability of Engineer's Toolset v. 9.0. Engineer's
Toolset v. 9.0 introduces the industry's first true
real-time NetFlow analysis tool; enabling network
engineers to quickly and easily drill down and troubleshoot
network traffic issues and remediate network issues
from their desktop. SolarWinds will showcase the latest
version of Engineer's Toolset in the company's booth
#1858 at Interop.
Engineer's
Toolset is a suite of 48 applications that installs
in minutes and enables network engineers to quickly
address virtually every network engineering challenge
from configuration management, network discovery/mapping
and fault management to bandwidth and network performance
monitoring. Engineer's Toolset was the first product
introduced by SolarWinds in 1998 to provide network
engineers with real solutions that address the tough
every-day problems faced by network engineers. Engineer's
Toolset is now used by more than 30,000 network engineers
worldwide and continues to grow in popularity in the
network engineering community.
"We
have been using SolarWinds' Toolset for several years
now," said Scott Andrews, senior network engineer,
Network Engineering and Support Group in Lakewood, WA.
"Any network engineer would find it hard to function
daily without using at least one utility in the toolset.
Among the enhancements to the existing Toolset, the
latest version now includes support for Windows Vista,
NetFlow and SNMP version 3. It is amazing how much more
information I can get by watching the traffic in real
time with NetFlow. I am really happy and impressed by
the functionality we receive from Toolset year after
year."
Engineer's
Toolset applications use several methods to collect
data about the health and performance of the network,
including ICMP, SNMP, DNS and Syslog. As network engineers
use Engineer's Toolset applications to gather diagnostic
data from the network, this information is automatically
stored in a database for further analysis and reporting.
New features in v. 9.0 include:
NetFlow
Realtime provides the industry's first true real-time
NetFlow analysis tool. NetFlow Realtime is a perfect
complement to the suite of tools in Engineer's Toolset,
enabling network engineers to quickly and easily troubleshoot
network problems.
Intuitive, customizable Launchpad allows easy access
to all Toolset applications. The Launchpad is configurable
to allow an engineer to group favorite tools and provides
a "top 5" list of most used tools. The Launchpad
also provides new features such as "Host network
info" to easily display the network information
(IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, etc.) of
the client machine.
Enhanced TFTP Server runs as a service (background process),
rather than only as a foreground process. The new TFTP
Server includes support for option negotiation (blocksize,
tsize, timeout) which enables file transfers larger
than 32MB. SolarWinds TFTP Server continues in its popularity
among network engineers and has now been downloaded
more than 650,000 times.
Shared credentials database enables support for storing
individual SNMP credentials and associated IP address/hostnames
in a database that can be shared among tools.
"Engineer's Toolset has become the de facto standard
for network engineers around the world," said Kenny
Van Zant, chief product strategist at SolarWinds. "Toolset
is the one product that companies can rely on to help
avoid the enormous cost of network downtime, loss of
business continuity or regulatory non-compliance, at
just less than a thousand dollars."
Orion
Network Performance Monitor
SolarWinds
also announced today that the latest version of Orion
Network Performance Monitor (Orion) will be showcased
in the company's booth #1858 at Interop. Orion v 8.1,
a server-based fault, bandwidth and performance management
application that allows users to view the real-time
statistics and availability of their network from any
Web browser, will be generally available in June.
In
addition, the integration between Engineer's Toolset
and Orion provides users with the ability to launch
any of the Toolset applications directly from the Orion
Web Console, streamlining the monitoring, diagnostic
and remediation process.
Engineer's
Toolset is available for immediate download at www.solarwinds.com.
Engineer's Toolset contains 48 tools for only $995
plus maintenance. Early Adopters will receive 15%
